$600 for a single person wont cut anything these days! As soon as I go food shopping, I’m spending without even knowing it at least $150 to $200 easy! Gas and Electric bill is about $500 in the winter! Then After that is spent, how will I pay my bills?! It will not help the economy, with only $600 sorry to say, but if I give to the economy, what am I going to have left? ZERO! That’s right people, ZERO! I can’t pay my bills get food for myself and do shopping to boost the economy all at once! If you’re gonna give money, give money! Give at least to single people 15-25,000 just so we can say, WOW now I feel comfortable enough to help my economy out! It’s only gonna get harder and harder! With this little amount of money it’ll only get worse! The car dealerships don’t need all that money, they’re sitting on billions as it is! WE THE PEOPLE need help, and lots of it! We are all losing our jobs and have rent to pay and bills etc…ect… and with a little bit of $600 is not going to do anybody justice! The car markers will have to go under, because guess what, my little $600, (if that’s what they are giving the single people) will not go on a down payment on a car! It will be going in my pocket, and it will be saved! I will go broke if I spend that little bit of money very, very fast! If you’re going to send money out, send it out like you really wanna help the economy, not break it even more! Give, please WE ALL NEED IT VERY BAD!

If you've already notified the IRS, they've tracked down the check, and you've filled out the forms, then the crime has already been reported.

If you're unhappy with the speed of the IRS in tracking down the culprit, or if you happen to recognize the signature, I would recommend filing a regular police report. If the local police can't or won't help you, I would get in touch with the National Check Fraud Center at 1-843-571-2143.

My daughter had her stimulus check stolen out of her mailbox. The IRS traced it and sent her a copy of the processed check, which had a signature on the back of it that clearly was not hers. Apparently the thief deposited it into his/her bank account through an ATM, and the bank then processed it, which is not only against the bank's policy, it is also against the law. (A federal check can only be endorsed by the payee(s), so it can't be processed through someone else's account.) My daughter filled out the forms the IRS sent her and sent them back. A few weeks later she was told that the IRS had issued her another check, but they sent it to the same address they'd sent the first one. That one has still not arrived, but it isn't clear at this point what happened to it. They finally sent her another one to a post office box that she got just for this purpose, and that one arrived safely today. In the meantime, my daughter made inquiries into identifying the person who stole her check, which should be as easy as finding out whose account it was deposited into. The bank will not give out this information without a subpoena, but apparently the Post Office's investigation agency (since this involved stolen mail) doesn't have the manpower to get this information and take whatever steps would be necessary to prosecute the perpetrator(s). Do you have any ideas of how to bring this thief to justice? You can email me for my daughter's contact information. Thanks!
