The Beginning of a Blog
“The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” – Confucius
There are so many issues facing our country, so many debates raging, so many pundits chattering, so many extremists screaming, so many things to say, and to stand for that it’s somewhat daunting to address them all. Where does one even begin?
With small stones.
My name is Janus. A Democrat I am not. A Republican I am not. I am secular. I am conservative. I am without a party – but I am not without a voice. I have a message I want to bring to the rest of the world.
America is great because America is a land of freedom and opportunity. Religious tolerance, liberal social values, protection of minorities, freedom of speech, free markets, low taxes, self-reliance, and social mobility are the core values that have made this country the beacon of hope it is today.
They are also values that seem to be equally divided between hyper-partisan parties that would sooner gouge out their own eyes than work together.
Fortunately, America is also a democratic republic with a strong moderate swing vote. We, as independent voters, have the power to take the greatest nation on earth and make it even greater.
I’m not sure what, exactly, I hope to accomplish with this. All I can really say for certain is that I have an opinion. As a voter and an internet savvy person my opinion matters. I’m going to put it out there.
Let’s see where this road takes us.
