Hello Janus

I just ran into your blog. I think it is very interesting one, I agree on most of your points, in some others, not so much. As an answer to the points that you raised, here are my answers:

-Sovereignty rests in the 3 branches of power, as stated in the Constitution. Each branch of power has some responsibilities as assigned to them by the Constitution.
-Americans are the people who live in America, abide by the American Law, and care for the Country. Immigrants come to America looking for better opportunities in life, a bigger chance to make something good for themselves, the country and if possible the world. I personally support people who care for the place they live in, and you can find people who dont care in every layer of society, whether immigrants or not.
-Patriots are persons who care about their country and the place they live in, and if they care they should be able to point out where they think things are going wrong, blind obedience and lack of critical views are not part of a free society.
- I think all decisions should be made always having in mind what is best for you and your community, everybody must be able to make their own choices but also must be eager to bear responsibility for those choices, that is the key value of society from my point of view, society and government if applicable should guarantee the same fair ground for all its members, but also should make them accountable for the mistakes they make, the rules of the game are in the Constitution and the law. An active society should denounce every act of division and encourage unity amongst all members. All people are not going to think the same way, but if they all share the ideals of fairness, progress, personal responsibility and respect of the law and of other people, a society can progress, that is why "traditional values" should be better called "core" values, those values are independent of religious, racial or even social connotations.
Keep the good working! good luck!

The America of today is far from the America of our founding fathers (who, incidentally, were immigrants). I don't think it's possible for us to deny our past, nor do I think it's healthy. I would much rather live in a nation that admits to its mistakes than one which rewrites history while wearing rose-colored glasses. Traditional American Values? That entire sentence needs to be in quotes. "Traditional" "American" "Values" It's all subjective.

We're a melting pot and we need to accept that. Stay-at-home mothers ARE in the minority. Our society and economy is as such that the majority of families are two career families out of necessity, not desire. Christian values? You can have proper moral and ethical values without bringing religion into it. I'd rather see a government based on what's best for the country than an outdated set of religious mandates. And, if it were up to me, that patriot would protest and question the government. Blind acceptance/obediance is no way to serve your government. You serve our country by helping it better itself.

"United we stand, divided we fall." Nowhere does it say "Homogeneous we stand..." We can be united without conforming to the exact same set of values. Can we, as a country, agree to disagree? Can we move on without erasing our past? It's obviously much more detailed than that, but then again, so is the description of actual American Values.
