Senator John McCain today announced his decision to nominate Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin. Palin is a first term governor, a former mayor, and a mother of five (including one child with Down Syndrome and one in the military). She has a reputation as a strong fiscal conservative and a reformer. She also has a 90% approval rate in her home state, making her a very, very popular figure.
Making Governor Palin McCain’s Vice President pick is a gamble but it’s not an unreasonable gamble.

So, as sort of an ongoing example of the level we’ve sunk to in American politics, the Obama campaign joked that if we allowed off shore drilling, we’d only generate the energy we could save if we properly inflated our tires. Instantly, of course, the McCain camp ridiculed Obama – his plan to energy independence is to give everyone a tire gauge.

My reason? I hate him less than I hate his opponent. This is a look at the rhetoric and voting record of John McCain.

Well, it seems as though we have finally picked nominees for the two major parties, and I have been discussing politics for two months without touching the most pressing political issue of the day. I would be remiss if I covered politics and did not talk about the ongoing race for the most influential political office in the country, if not the world. The real reason I haven’t been very vocal on the subject is fairly simple: I don’t like either candidate.
As of right now, and baring some sort of unimaginable revelation I’ll be voting for McCain, but that doesn’t mean I like him. It means I don’t like Obama more. I’ll get to the nitty gritty analysis of each candidate later, but for now I’ll explain how I’ve come to my decision.
