This, honestly, is such a tiny thing that it should be well beneath our notice. We aren’t arguing legislation here, we’re name calling. We aren’t talking about character issues or foreign policy. This isn’t scandal most juicy. This isn’t a debate. There’s nothing at stake. There is, in short, nothing worth mentioning.
But here we are. This is what we choose to spend our time with. This is how we conduct ourselves. This is how we behave. These are the things that are important to us and occupy our time.

Tonight Obama gave a speech in which he declared that he would not sign a health care bill that increased the size of the deficit. It’s good to see that we finally have a President that can admit he’s made a mistake and back down from a debate.
… okay, so I’m poking fun of him. He did say he wouldn’t sign such a bill, but unless he’s just completely insane, that’s exactly what he’s planning to do.

War is evil. Killing is evil. Torture is evil. Yes, I get it. I understand. I also understand that without them our enemies will not stop. I understand that as long as these people are out there, there is a chance that my fellow Americans – my friends and my loved ones and my family – are in danger. And I’m would do anything, anything, to keep them safe.

The economic crisis currently gripping our country has been the top political issue in this country for months now. My blog is a political blog. Noticeably absent from it has been the top political issue in the country. Why? Because words can’t describe how angry, disappointed, and disgusted I am with the handling of it all.
Believe me, I’ve tried. There are many half-written posts on the subject. A starting paragraph followed by a rant followed by broken sentences that simply couldn’t be folded in coherently – not that my rants are terribly coherent to begin with. It almost makes me feel like I’ve somehow failed as a blogger. I’m normally a very articulate person. I’d like to at least think that I’m a rational, reasonable, persuasive person.
But every time I think of what the government has done on this my mind just fucking asplodes.

Obama campaigned on change. He wanted to change the way Washington works. He wanted to make a clean break from the past. He wanted to change American policy and change the way people see America itself. I would say that in these first few days in office he’s done so. He’s gone from the corruption of the right to the corruption of the left.
