Barack Obama Inaugurated

Published by Janus on January 20, 2009

Today is inauguration day. This day is neither a formality nor a symbol. Today is a moment of truth that reaffirms that this is a country of the people, for the people, and by the people. Today Barack Obama, a man I do not agree with, support, or defend has taken the oath of office and become the 44th President of the United States of America.

I couldn’t be happier. I, both as a conservative and as an American, am thankful for and eternally proud of our republic.

Congratulations, President Obama.

I could be happier. While I understand that the system we have allows for the people to be heard, I’m still appalled that we as a nation could be so ignorant. I hope I’m wrong, truly, but I’m in a dismal mood and wish it had gone the other way.

I’ve enjoyed reading your blog by the way.

I am happy that we have now proven that we live in post-racial America… but I still wonder whether Jesse Jackson’s tears on election night were tears of joy for a black president or sad tears of seeing his race-hustling trump card taken away forever.

Obama is my president, but I intend to oppose him whenever he is wrong, which is almost all of the time. I do not care one bit what color he is.

I like your blog.
