Hillary’s Confirmation Hearings

Published by Janus on January 15, 2009

… I’m not disappointed with them. The woman has been vetted. Repeatedly. I run a conservative blog. I can’t stand her. I disagree with her. I openly mock her for any number of reasons, but let’s just face the facts for a moment. She’s wrong. If she’s an evil, underhanded, corrupt official (and she’s not – let’s just be clear) and no evidence has come to light after being married to the governor of Arkansas, then the President of the United States, and then as a Senator, and then as a Presidential candidate, then the chances of it coming to light in a week of chit chat on capital hill are nill.

Her husband’s recent disclosure of his fund raising accounts will not change that. Nothing new has happened since August. She’s been in the spotlight for years. We know her. We know everything we care to about her.

These proceedings are a formality. Stop freaking out. Seriously. If you want to freak out about the confirmation process, fine. Go investigate how Geithner intends to differ from Paulson in his response to the recession. Go investigate how Chu plans to juggle his pro-coal statements with his global warming statements. Go investigate how Panetta’s support for rendition is a “clean break” from the past (actually, don’t – just confirm him and move on.)

My point is that the hullabaloo over Clinton’s confirmation hearings is ridiculous. We all have more important things to focus on. Can we move on to them? The important things? Please?

Personally, I don’t care about Hillary. Now granted, during the election, had she been the Democratic candidate, I would have voted for McCain just to oppose her, just like I eventually did for Obama to oppose McCain, but so long as she’s not in control, she can be the whiny, self-centered bitch that we all know she is and hopefully not cause too many problems. Just keep her out of the Oval Office and I’ll be happy.

I agree on Hillary–I could care less about how much money Bill gets for speaking in Arabia or where ever. The important thing is what she does as our ambassador to the world–not that I give a flip about what the Europeans or the arabs think about us. If we need them they won’t help, if they need us we will help–its the way its always been, at least since the war for independence.
